How It Works…

I currently offer online and telephone counselling, which means you can sit and chat with me from the comfort of your own home, cuppa in hand and slippers on- what’s better than that!

I work in a person centred way, which means I hold the belief that each of us has the capability of living the life we want to live: being our true authentic selves without the need of pleasing others.

I am not the counsellor to set you homework and tell you what to do. This may seem strange if you haven’t had counselling before but I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I want you to feel empowered on this journey we go on together. This doesn’t mean I won’t offer advice if I feel it’s helpful to you. In fact grounding exercises, physiological education and mindfulness can be extremely effective tools to learn and master.

The relationship we build in our therapeutic work together is important in assisting change. You need to feel comfortable and at ease in the relationship in order to facilitate this change. It is therefore important that you are met with acceptance, empathy and transparency which I strive to offer all my clients.

I will listen to you attentively and ask you questions in order to gain an understanding of how things are for you. This allows me to put myself in your shoes and see things from your perspective. I strive to offer a space which allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings freely without the fear of judgement.

To decide what’s right for you, I offer a free, 15 minute telephone consultation. This is an informal chat, where you’ll have the opportunity to tell me all about yourself and what you’re wanting from counselling. I will outline how I work, and will listen to any questions and concerns you may have about beginning this journey. Having this chat will hopefully give you an idea of who I am and if you feel that we could work together. If you feel you would like to proceed, I will then book you in for your first appointment.

“When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mould you, it feels damn good…”
— Carl Rogers
